Ellison Rowe, a Lupine Shifter, makes it his goal to protect Maria, once held captive by ferals, from male Shifters looking for mates. He likes Maria’s resilience and fire, but she’s been broken, and Ellison wants more than anything to heal her. When a new danger threatens Shiftertown’s cubs, Maria partners with Ellison to stop a cold-blooded criminal.
I feel like we’ve been waiting for this story for SOOOOO long. Finally the wait is over. I’ll admit that I was a tad bit disappointed that this wasn’t a full length novel, but at least it was 150 or so pages. But what we got was well written, fast moving and kept my attention.
Maria was rescued by Cassidy and Diego in Wild Cat. She was held captive by a pack of feral shifters and was then rescued and brought to Shiftertown in Austin, Texas. In Austin she is putting her life together while trying to avoid mate-claims (unmated females are slim pickin’s in Shiftertown). She is a hard working, no nonsense woman and I just love her. She is just a little spit fire!! Obviously Ellison couldn’t help but fall for her either. He knew she the mate of his heart when she came to Shiftertown. What happened to her was so sad, my heart just ached for her. At first I was all about Ellison getting his happily ever after. But after meeting Maria it was her who deserved it so much more.
Ellison takes it slow, just like his southern drawl, with Maria and boy does it pay off. But I like that we get to see a tougher side to Ellison. In previous books we just got the ‘aww shucks ma’am’ image and here we see how much more there is to him. Might I add, he’s got a temper on him but at least he can reign it in. I do think it was a close call when Broderick tried to mate-claim Maria (silly boy, he must have been blind to not know Maria was Ellison’s…at least he wised up later on!).
I don’t think this will be the last we see of the cubs being abducted. No clue that there was so much $ in that trade. $16 million for little Olaf! And don’t worry, he’s still in Ronan’s home, safe and sound. They managed to save the day and have their HEA but I’m sure something just as big and bad will come along. I’m looking forward to Tiger Magic which comes out soon! If you haven’t read the Shifters Unbound Series, pick it up. You won’t be disappointed!
Lone Wolf was a 4.5 out of 5 stars read for me.
